About Mel Olsen

How my Approach was Shaped

My coaching philosophy has been shaped by more than a decade of experience across sport, healthcare, and my own athletic journey.

Professionally, I've worked across private practice, Queensland Health, and performance environments, supporting athletes and active individuals with a wide range of goals. From endurance sport and team-based athletes to strength and physique competitors, every environment reinforced the importance of looking beyond a single training session or meal plan and considering the bigger picture.

Alongside my professional career, I've continued to challenge myself as an athlete. I've competed in multiple bodybuilding federations over several years, an experience that demanded patience, resilience, consistency, and a long-term mindset. In 2026, I earned my FMG Fitness Pro status and now continue to train and compete as a professional athlete.

That journey reinforced something I now bring into every coaching relationship: lasting results are built through consistency, not quick fixes. The best coaching isn't about chasing perfection, it's about making informed decisions, adapting when life changes, and continuing to move forward.

Today, every recommendation I make is shaped by both evidence and experience, bringing together training, nutrition, recovery, and lifestyle into a coaching approach that's personalised, practical, and built to last.

How I coach differently

My background in both sports dietetics and strength coaching means I don't look at nutrition or training in isolation.

Every recommendation is made with your training, recovery, lifestyle, and long-term goals in mind.

Rather than handing you a generic plan, I focus on building a coaching system that evolves as your life and goals change.

Because the best results don't come from a perfect plan, they come from the right plan, applied consistently.

My coaching philosophy

Great coaching isn't about having all the answers. It's about asking the right questions, adapting when life changes, and helping you build confidence in your own decisions.

My role is to guide the process, challenge your thinking when needed, and provide the structure and support that keeps you moving forward.

You'll never be expected to be perfect. We'll focus on building habits and strategies that you can sustain long after coaching ends.

You'll enjoy working together if you:

  • value evidence-based guidance over trends

  • are open to feedback and willing to learn

  • want a coach who will challenge and support you

  • understand that consistency beats perfection

  • are committed to long-term progress
