I’m Mel, an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Performance Coach.
I work with athletes and goal driven lifters who want their nutrition to properly support how they train. Most of my clients are lifters, endurance and hybrid athletes, and driven professionals who treat training as a non negotiable part of their week.
They are usually already consistent. What is missing is alignment between training load, fueling, and recovery.
About Mel Olsen
How my approach was shaped…
Sport has been part of my life from early on through swimming, running, and triathlon. Like many athletes, I grew up in environments where training volume was emphasised and fueling was often secondary.
That worked for a while, until it didn’t. Injuries increased, recovery slowed, and energy became inconsistent.
A significant injury shifted my focus toward cycling and strength training. I completed my fitness qualifications and moved deeper into strength based training. With proper fuelling and structured programming, progress became more predictable and recovery improved. That experience still shapes how I coach.
From training to dietetics
I became a dietitian to understand performance properly. Not just nutrients, but how training load, recovery, energy availability, and lifestyle stress interact in real people.
My personal training background means nutrition advice is always considered alongside actual training demands.
I have worked across clinical dietetics, private practice, and performance environments for over a decade, supporting endurance, strength, hybrid, and team sport athletes.
How I work
RocketFuel is built around review and adjustment, not static plans.
We look at data, patterns, and feedback, then make practical changes that fit real schedules. The goal is repeatable structure, not perfect weeks.
I still train seriously myself, which keeps my coaching grounded in real conditions, not theory.
Best suited to people who:
train consistently
care about performance and recovery
want clarity instead of mixed advice
value professional oversight
are willing to review and apply feedback
Not designed for quick fixes or generic meal plans.

What I see most often
Most clients are not underperforming because they are lazy. They are underperforming because intake does not match output.
Common patterns include low energy, slow recovery, stalled progress, and uncertainty around how much to eat for their workload.
They do not need more motivation. They need structure.
